"I didn’t know there was Chateauneuf du Pape rosé!".
This is what is often expressed by our visitors when they see our bottles of Tout Vent rosé. Looking a little closer, one can read on the label "Côtes du Rhône". And for good reason!! The Chateauneuf du Pape rosé does not exist. This is also one of the points clearly stipulated in the decree of the AOC Châteauneuf du Pape, dating from 1936: "Rosé, stained or discoloured wines (...) lose the right to the appellation of controlled origin". That being said, many winemakers in our region have a rosé wine production. The terroirs and grape varieties such as black Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, are a perfect combo for this type of wine, and provide beautiful wines (no, rosé is not a bad red!). These wines are classified as Côtes du Rhône, GPI or Méditerranée local wines, Lirac, AOP Ventoux, etc. but not AOC Chateauneuf du Pape rosé.
Our Domaine de Tout Vent Rosé des Vents is a Côtes du Rhône that offers a delicate, pale pink dress. The nose opens with intense aromas of apple and red berries, summer fruits, citrus like pink grapefruit, as well as floral notes. Round, fresh and tasty, our rosé comes, like our red wines, from the blend of different grape varieties, here Grenache noir and Cinsault.
Our GPI Méditerranée local wine is also a rosé made from Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault grape varieties. It is a pale salmon pink with a nose dominated by tangy red fruits, with noticeable redcurrant and raspberry. The mouth is fresh but mild and round.
